1. How amazing would it be if this were the year that Mike Mussina wins 20 games for the first time? In his prime, he won 19 games twice and 18 three times, and has gained a reputation as Mr. Almost: Almost a 20-game winner, almost a Cy Young winner, almost a perfect game author, almost a champion. His inability to complete a few or even one of these items has long been seen as a mark against his chances to reach the Hall of Fame despite a brilliant career. But what if he wins 20 this year? He is 6-3 a quarter of the way through the season. Obviously the odds are against him. He is 39 and should wear down as the season goes along and already you see that he is about an 85-pitch starter. That means he is going to be a hostage to his bullpen all year, even in good times. He should, however, expect a better offensive team behind him at some point.
