A red-hot matchup: Cubs at Astros Posted on May 20th
So far, the Friendly Confines has been an accurate moniker. Now the Cubs will have to prove they can win on the road, which they haven’t done much of this season.
Sunday’s 4-3 victory over Pittsburgh left the Cubs 19-8 at Wrigley Field. Next they embark on a weeklong trip—and they are only 8-9 on the road—that could decide whether they will remain in first place in the NL Central.
Facing them the next three days are the Houston Astros, winners of 19 of their last 27 games, 11 of 17 in their own ballpark and having the only hitter in baseball as hot as Alfonso Soriano.
If Soriano is Superman of late, then Lance Berkman is, almost literally, Batman.
