Without even factoring in the thick, black stubble on Rex Grossman’s face Sunday that failed the beard test, he barely resembled Bears starting quarterback Kyle Orton.
But then Grossman didn’t have to.
All he really had to do was hand off to Matt Forte, keep the ball out of the hands of Lions defensive players and let the Bears’ offensive line dominate an opponent as it should have.
For his part, Grossman rushed several throws, sailed a couple of passes over open receivers and understandably looked as rusty as a quarterback who hadn’t taken a snap that mattered in 11 months.
